Commission To Fight Unemployment
Member states of the European Union are grappling with the effects of the problems caused by the current global crisis. The Union's average GNP has plummeted by 4% and unemployment has gone up to 11 percent. The European Commission is now proposing to use some 19 billion Euros, just over US$ 27 billion, to help member states fight unemployment.
Lars Engsted of the European Commission in Brussels told Radio Sweden that he wanted to commit member states to shared employment policies.
