Presidency: Financial Supervision
The Swedish government says its upcoming presidency of the European Union will focus on restoring the functions of financial markets and tackling unemployment.
Writing in the British daily “The Financial Times” Friday Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and Finance Minister Anders Borg say the Swedish presidency will seek to implement schemes to restore credit supply, and will present proposals to establish a new structure for financial supervision in Europe.
At a press conference in Stockholm Friday, Finance Minister Borg underlined that dealing with the economic crisis will be the main task during the Swedish presidency, which begins July 1. (gw)
