Alf Svensson, Anna Maria Corazza Bildt

Christian Democratic veteran Alf Svensson and the wife of Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, conservative Moderate politician Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, seem to become to the lucky winners of the Swedish EU election. According to the latest figures by the Election Authority both Alf Svensson and Anna Maria Corazza Bildt have received so many personal votes in this election that they are likely to get ahead of fellow party members who were initially ranked higher on the ballots.

Alf Svensson had been head of the Christian Democrats for decades and is now on the verge of outclassing his party’s top candidate, 30-year-old Ella Bohlin. Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, who has an Italian background, had run a secure-food profile during the election campaign, getting some help of her husband. (ah)
