'Fake Invoices' Used for Fraud

Published onsdag 10 juni 2009 kl 11.33

A formerly senior figure in the Swedish Red Cross is suspected of swindling the aid organisation of large sums.

In a press statement the organisation say that they have reported their former Director of Communications to the police after an internal investigation showed that he had broken their internal rules and regulations.

The suspected fraudster was fired from the Red Cross at the end of May. Now there's an investigation into how he may have used false invoices for educational material to put money into his own pocket. According to press agency TT the sum involved could be around a hundred thousand US dollars.
