OECD Calls for Less Aid Bureaucracy

Published fredag 10 juli 2009 kl 10.00

The Swedish decision to reduce the number of countries it gives development assistance to has been welcomed by the OECD. In a new report the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development adds that Sweden needs to reduce the amount of red tape in its development work, and also pay more attention to fighting poverty globally.

They also think that this country should have an independent authority to look into how the development assistance programme works. Sweden gives just under one percent of its GNP to foreign aid annually.
