More Fish Species Threatened

Published lördag 25 juli 2009 kl 12.54
Salmon: Soon gone?

The Swedish Species Information Centre says the threats to several species here have increased

In its latest Red List, the centre says that fish such as the common skate and the Atlantic halibut are already regarded as extinct from Swedish waters. Nearly all edible fish off the Swedish west coast are on the list of threatened species, with the exception of herring and the Atlantic mackerel.

Among the species under threat are haddock, English whiting, pollock, and salmon. The new list updates the previous edition from 2005.
