Demonstrations Against Iranian Regime
Thousands of people around the world took part in demonstrations Saturday to protest human rights abuses and the clampdown on opposition activists in Iran.
In what was probably the largest demonstration anywhere, more than 4000 people gathered in Stockholm. The demanded the release of those who have been imprisoned in Iran for protesting against what many believe were fraudulent presidential election results there.
There were also smaller protests in Gothenburg and Malmö.
Groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International backed the global day of action, with protests in around 100 cities around the world.
