Iran Human Rights Demonstration

Published söndag 30 augusti 2009 kl 16.44

Several thousand people took part in a demonstration in Stockholm Sunday supporting human rights in Iran.

Among the speakers were the leader of the Social Democrat opposition, Mona Sahlin, and Minister of Education and Liberal Party leader Jan Björklund. The demonstration was organized by Amnesty International and the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights.

The demonstrators were especially critical of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon for offering congratulations to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose re-election as Iran’s president has been strongly questioned.
