"Psychotic" Arts Student Found Guilty
Stockholm district court has declared its verdict in what is considered one of the biggest Swedish arts scandals in years. Anna Odell, a former student of the University College of Arts, Craft and Design was found guilty of “unethical conduct” and violent resistance when she pretended to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge and then faked a psychosis at a mental institution where she acted violently toward staff.
Her action was part of her final exams and Anna Odell defended her actions by claiming it was freedom of expression - causing an outrage in the Swedish media. The 35-year-old former student also stated she wanted to start a public debate over how badly some patients are being treated in Swedish mental institutions.
The court fined Odell 2,500 Swedish kronor ($US 340)
