Sweden's minister for environment

Sweden's environment minister Andreas Carlgren says China could learn from neighboring Japan when it comes to cutting greenhouse gasses.

Speaking on behalf of the Swedish EU presidency in Brussels, Carlgren did not specifically name China, but told reporters that some emerging economies needed to do more.

With its fast-rising emissions, China's stance at the Copenhagen climate talks in December will be crucial for creating a new pact to succeed the current Kyoto Protocol, which expires at the end of 2012.
