US Accused Of Searching Swedish Hospital In Afghanistan

Published söndag 6 september 2009 kl 16.48

American NATO forces have been accused of using too much force when searching a Swedish-run hospital in Afghanistan.

Anders Fänge, from the Swedish-Afghanistan committee, told news agency TT that he has been told that US soldiers went into the hospital without permission, breaking through locked doors and forcing patients outside. Fänge says it broke against international conventions.

He adds that he has spoken to the US military about it, but that they have a completely different picture of what happened, claiming the hospital staff gave the forces permission to search rooms and wards for Taleban, something the staff deny.
