Lower Speed Limits Decrease Accidents

Published tisdag 8 september 2009 kl 12.25

Swedish traffic safety authorities maintain that the number of deaths and injuries on the highways here continue to diminish and are the lowest in 60 years.

In order to continue the trend, speed limits on many stretches of highway are to be reduced from 90 to 80 kilometers an hour.

One of the biggest causes of highway accidents in this Nordic nation are collisions with wildlife - such as moose or European elk, deer and wild boar.
