Left Party Wins European Prize

Published tisdag 8 september 2009 kl 20.30
Left Party leader Lars Ohly

Sweden’s Left Party has been awarded the Gender Equality Prize by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, news wire TT reports. The award, which the Left Party shares with the British Labour Party and the Portuguese Socialist Party, is given to political parties that “substantially better women’s participation in their parties.”

The jury considered the parties’ knowledge and experience in gender equality, their skill in pursuing international efforts in the subject in multiple languages, and their ability to network.
