Youths Sentenced to Social Work
The Malmö district court has found three adolescents guilty of disturbing the peace and inciting disturbances in connection with the Davis Cup tennis encounter between Sweden and Israel last March. The young men, aged 17 to 19, confessed to throwing stones and damaging police vehicles outside the Malmö tennis arena. They were sentenced to a week of social work each. Several other similar cases are still pending. Acts of violence occurred when a demonstration against Israel’s military action in the Gaza strip got out of control.
