Canada has upset baseball world number two South Korea 9-2, in their Baseball World Cup group match-up here in Sweden.

With the score tied 1-1 in the 7th inning Thursday, Canada scored 8 times to put the game out of reach from the Olympic champions. Attendance at the Nya Örvallen field, in Sundbyberg, outside Stockholm, was 662, about half that of Wednesday’s opening game, when the Netherlands Antilles beat host Sweden 10-8.

In Friday’s games in the Group C tournament, Sweden takes on South Korea, while Canada plays the Netherlands Antilles.

As the Associated Press puts it: The tournament, being played through Sept. 27 in seven countries across Europe, features 22 of the world's top baseball-playing countries – though not all of the best players.
