Prolonged Space Farewell for Fuglesang
Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang’s farewell space mission has been prolonged by another day. Inclement weather conditions prevented the planned landing of the “Discovery” space shuttle with its seven-member crew late Thursday local U.S. time. The flight is Fuglesang’s second and final space mission.
Officials of both the American and the European space agencies, NASA and ESA, praised the Swede’s commitment, naming especially his extra-vehicular activities, so-called space walks, during which he performed different maintenance tasks on the international space station ISS.
Landing of the "Discovery" is now scheduled for late Friday.
