At least one of the three Swedish nationals recently arrested in Pakistan is suspected to have been in contact with leaders of the al-Qaeda terrorist group. According to a report by Swedish national television a 30-year-old man of Algerian origin is currently being interrogated by Pakistani authorities about his activities in the country.

The man had once before been arrested in Pakistan in 2001 as a terror suspect and extradited to the USA. From there he was transferred to the Guantanamo prison in Cuba, where he was held without formal charges for more than two years.
