Record Summer for Tourism Industry
Tourists have been streaming to Sweden in all greater numbers this summer despite the financial crisis. While countries like Spain and France have seen their tourist numbers drop by 10% or more, the Swedish tourism industry has been blooming. According to a new report released by tourist bureau Visit Sweden, summer 2009 may very well become the highest grossing yet.
Elizabeth Nyström, chairwoman of Visit Sweden’s Board of Directors, told news wire TT that Germans, Danes, and Norwegians have all vacationed in Sweden in greater numbers this year, as have domestic tourists. She cites the weak Swedish crown as one reason for the jump.
