Time Running out on Global Warming

Published måndag 14 september 2009 kl 12.37
Andreas Carlgren

Swedish Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren says top-level meetings at the United Nations and elsewhere in the next few days will also focus on the global environment, and that time is running out for the Copenhagen summit on the environment in med-December.

He adds that the United States must present a credible plan to combat global warming, but that the debate there on a new health plan is delaying action.

The Swede adds that it is also crucial that China agrees to share responsibility, and that financing environmental measures for the developing countries must be worked out.

Meanwhile, the European Union's agricultural ministers are meeting here in Sweden visiting farms and discussing farm policies and environmental questions.
