Swedes Attacked in Afghanistan

A Swedish patrol in Afghanistan

Swedish troops serving in Afghanistan came under fire at midday on Saturday.

The Swedes were travelling with Afghan police when they came under attack, in Sayyad, in the western part of the Swedish-Finnish sector of responsibility in northern Afghanistan.

There were no serious injuries, but one soldier was hurt in the eye. The Swedish military’s website says he should be back on duty within a few days.

Earlier Saturday another patrol, which included a Swedish soldier, came under fire west of Mazar-i-Sharif. No injuries have been reported in that attack.
