Bias Charge Given Another Chance

Lawyers representing the Pirate Bay have won a partial victory in their battle.

They want to get two judges who turned down their recent appeal declared biased. This angle has already failed once, but now the Pirate Bay legal team have got the go ahead to try once again to get their claims of bias recognised. This would then open the way for another appeal against the original verdict.

In March four Pirate Bay defendants were fined millions and sentenced to one year in prison. Their appeal was rejected, but the Pirate bay claims that two of the appeal judges were not objective - because they have links to pro-copyright associations.

Now this issue will be looked into by the Supreme Court.
