Sweden Out of World Cup

Sweden's dreams to get to the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa were finally dashed Wednesday night, as the team finished third in their qualification group. Despite beating Albania 4 - 1, Sweden was put out of the competition when Portugal beat Malta, and thus crushing Sweden's last hope to play on the world arena next summer.

The result now leaves a lot of questions to be answered. Why didn't the team make it? Who will take over now that manager Lars Lagerbäck is quitting? And will Zlatan Ibrahimovic also throw in the towel, or is it just a way for him to make sure the Swedish Football Association finds a new manager that he approves of?

Radio Sweden spoke to sports reporters Annika Duncan from Swedish Radio, and Johan Esk from the daily Dagens Nyheter.
