UN Environment summit

Which Way Copenhagen?

Published torsdag 22 oktober 2009 kl 09.54

Thousands of people will descend on Copenhagen, the Danish capital, for the U.N. mega conference on climate change in December. It is just over six weeks left and much remains to be done. The various actors are keeping their cards tight to their chests and waiting for the next move by the other groups in the drama.

The Swedish environment movement is critical that more has not been achieved in the pre-negotiation process on the road leading to Copenhagen. But one development has delighted environmentalists.

With the Obama administration adopting a more conciliatory tone, in stark contrast to its predecessor, the hope is it might be easier to clinch a deal in Copenhagen. But as Azariah Kiros reports, the road leading to Copenhagen has so far been bumpy and arduous.
