Election 2010

Greens Rule out Center-Right Cooperation

The Green Party, one of the three opposition parties in the Swedish parliament, has ruled out any cooperation with the center-right government after the next election.

In her speech during a party congress in Örebro, co-head Maria Wetterstrand said there was no way the Greens would support the center-right bloc.

Wetterstrand’s statement came after Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt had offered the Green Party cooperation if the center-right bloc was to lack a majority in parliament after the general election in September 2010. But the Greens are intending to form a left coalition with the Social Democrats and the Left Party. The Greens will present their manifesto next year.
