Nordic Council Meeting

Debating Future Nordic Cooperation

Published tisdag 27 oktober 2009 kl 10.55

Parliamentarians, government ministers, politicians and representatives from non-government organizations from the vast Nordic zone are gathered here in Stockholm for the annual session of the Nordic Council. Some critics argue that this is an outdated and expensive party rotating each year between Nordic capitals since only recommendations can be made.

Others insist this Nordic dialogue is more important than ever – and that the idea of a passport-free zone with economic, social and cultural co-operation between Nordic neighbours on both sides of the Baltic Sea was a reality decades before the European Union was even a dream.
