Bosnian President Cancels Stockholm Trip

Published onsdag 28 oktober 2009 kl 13.15
Former Bosnian Serb President Biljana Plavsic, left, is embraced by an unidentified person after arriving in Belgrade, Serbia, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. Plavsic arrived in Belgrade Tuesday following her release from a Swedish prison after serving two-thirds of her 11-year sentence for war crimes

Sweden's early prison release of war criminal Biljana Plavsic has prompted the chairman of Bosnia's three-person Presidency to cancel an official trip here planned to begin next week.

Plavsic was released Tuesday from a Swedish prison after serving two-thirds of an 11-year jail term for crimes against humanity.

President Zeljko Komsic said that he will not travel to Stockholm because although Swedish law offers the possibility of early release, it was the government that voluntarily chose to use that possibility.
