The Swedish union for industrial blue-collar workers has opened the annual round of wage negotiations with a demand of a 2.6 percent pay raise, with a minimum of 90 dollars more per month. In addition, the union wants a compensation of another ten dollars in job fields that are traditionally dominated by women, such as sales and restaurant personnel.

A spokesman for the National Institute of Economic Research criticized the union’s demands. He said they could put a lot of jobs in jeopardy at a time when the economic crisis was not really over yet.
