"Pirate Bay" Lawyers Renew Bias Claims
The defense lawyers of the Pirate Bay file sharing site demand a retrial. The defense filed an appeal to the Supreme Court, demanding an annullment of the orginal verdict on the grounds of multiple cases of bias. They claim that two of the judges in the upcoming law suit in the court of appeal are linked to organisations of copyright defenders and are therefore also biased.
Earlier one of the judges in the district court trial had been accused of bias, but was later cleared. The founders of "the Pirate Bay" were found guilty of infringing on copyrights last spring, and sentenced to one year in prison each and 4.3 million dollars damages.
