One-Third of School with Swine Flu

Published onsdag 11 november 2009 kl 14.01

Many students at a school in Gothenburg seem to have been infected with swine flu. On Wedneday morning more than 150 of the 450 students at the Kålltorps school were home sick.

However, the teachers have not been affected to the same degree and classes are continuing.

On Tuesday it was reported that a  60 year old man here has died from swine flu, bringing the death toll in Sweden from the AH1NI virus to five. Tests showed that the primary cause of death was cardiac arrest, brought on by the flu.

According to the latest figures from the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, 51 people are currently in the hospital here being treated for swine flu. Three are on respirators and one on an artificial lung machine.
