Government Proposal

‘Abolish Gender Equality Measures’

Swedish Minister for Higher Education and Research Tobias Krantz has suggested to abolish the system of affirmative action at universities. In a signed article in the daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter Krantz writes that the current gender equality measures at universities have failed.

That’s why the centre-right government intends to put forward a law proposal that abolishes these kinds of measures, Krantz added. Last year a Swedish court granted 44 women compensation payments after their applications for a vet programme at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences was turned down due to gender quotas. Instead 44 men with worse reports were given the university places.
