Premature Baby Death Investigation

Published torsdag 14 januari 2010 kl 11.46

Breaks in routine, competence , location and information were given as the reasons behind a raft of deadly infections amongst premature babies at a hospital in Sweden last year.

Seven premature babies were infected with multi-resistant bacteria at a unit in Västerås last August.

An investigation by the County's health authority found that amongst a number of errors, parents weren't informed immediately about hygiene routines on the wards.

Three children died after becoming infected by the bacteria.
