Helicopter Robbery Suspect Flown in from Dominican Republic
A man arrested in the Dominican Republic as a suspect in last Autumn's spectacular helicopter cash depot robbery is back in Sweden. Aftonbladet newspaper writes that he arrived at Stockholm's Bromma airport by special charter plane accompanied by Swedish police on Friday.
The paper writes that sources in the Caribbean country say that Swedish police believe the man is suspected of playing a leading role in the robbery of the cash depot in Västberga in southern Stockholm last September.
Swedish police refused to comment that the suspect was believed to have played a leading role in the robbery and his arrest was a major breakthrough in their investigation.
The daring robbery made headlines around the world after a helicopter was used to land on the roof of the G4S depot and then later help the gang escape with untold millions of dollars. Police were unable to follow in their helicopter as the gang had planted a fake bomb outside its building, which had no security.
