First Swedes at Work in Haiti
The first Swedish relief workers have arrived in earthquake stricken Haiti.
There are two IT workers who are helping establish communications for the United Nations emergency services.
Also, the Swedish telecommuications company Ericsson has been commissioned to set up a mobile network in Haiti and will send a 4-man team to the region.
Three Swedish plans carrying equipment and medical and other personnel were unable to land in Haiti and had to land in neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, the Swedish minister of international assistance and her other EU counterparts meeting in Brussels have pledged an additional 140 million dollars in emergency relief.
