More Help For Ex-Islamists?
Swedish integration minister Nyamko Sabuni wants to look into giving similar state support to people that want to leave Islamist movements as is given to those choosing to leave far-right organisations.
"Either society supports them in getting back into a normal life, or we will have a load of ticking bombs in society" she told Swedish Radio News.
She has asked Sweden's National Board for Youth Affairs to see if there is a need for the support. Currently anyone wanting to leave a Nazi grouping can get help from state-funded help groups, such as Exit in Stockholm.
Exit provides help which can include creating a secret identity, psychotherapy or treatment against alcoholism, as well as help in forming new social contacts, for example.
