GM Deal with Spyker Seems Near
A takeover of the ailing Swedish car brand Saab by Dutch sportscar maker Spyker seems to become more likely, Swedish media reports. Negotiations between Saab’s current owner, US auto giant General Motors, and Spyker were continuing on Saturday, Spyker’s CEO Victor Muller told news agency TT.
“I have nothing to say until the negotiations are done”, Muller said according to TT. Neither did Muller confirm a report by Bloomberg News claiming that GM is now willing to accept Spyker’s bid for Saab. The Dutch sportcar maker is believed to have offered 500 million dollars for the Swedish brand. Some 3,500 jobs are at stake at Saab’s Trollhättan plant in West Sweden.
