Published måndag 1 februari 2010 kl 10.49

A rail worker clearing snow off a track signal point in front of a train platform at Linghelm near Linköping was killed at 6am on Monday morning after being hit by a passing high speed X2000 train.

The tragic accident which is now being investigated, caused major delays for a couple of hours on the line between Linköping and Norrköping. A similar accident happened in the Stockholm area only last week.

The 58 year old man was clearing snow with a colleague when he was hit by the X 2000, which TT reports had no passengers on board. Police say there were few people standing on the platform at the time of the tragedy.
