Record Tourist Year in Sweden
Swedish tourism authorities say last year was another record year breaking the levels set in 2008 with an increase of overnight stays by 3.3%.
This is explained by tourist campaigns in the Nordic neighbors - and the falling value of the Swedish currency - making it cheaper to visit this country.
The biggest increases were seen for lower-budget overnights - by those staying in private apartments and cabins climbing by 4.4 % and 6% at the nation's camp sites.
This cheaper accommodation has meant a real decrease in spending by 5% but hopes are nevertheless high for this year – with an international travel bureau website rating Sweden among the world's top 10 tourist nations.
