Threats Hardly Lead to Indictment

Published tisdag 9 februari 2010 kl 10.17

Threats against ministers, members of parliament or other politicians hardly lead to indictments, a survey carried out by the Swedish Security Police shows. Last year the Security Police followed up 26 cases in which a severe threat was suspected, but none of them finally led to an indictment.

Speaking to Swedish Radio news, Mattias Lindholm, press officer of the Security Police, explained that it is hard to prove that someone has the explicit intention of hurting someone else when a threat expressed in a letter or an e-mail is the only evidence to judge upon.
