First Shelter to Protect Young Men Against Honour Related Violence

Published onsdag 10 februari 2010 kl 14.47
Traditionally it is women who are seen as the victims of honour related violence

Honour related crimes have been debated in Sweden for some time, with a number of cases where women have been killed by family members trying to keep up the honour of the klan. Most of the time we think of women being the victims of these crimes, but now the first sheltered accommodation for young men who need protection against honour related violence has been opened.

Radio Sweden's Ulla Engberg spoke to Karin Ahlquist who is the coordinator at a the shelter in Höganäs in Southern Sweden.
