Childhood Obesity Linked to Early Death
A study led by researchers at Sweden’s Umeå University reveals that childhood obesity, together with other risk factors for cardiovascular disease, is linked to premature death.¨'
The researchers studied nearly 5000 native American children in the United States, who were then followed up for an average of 24 years.
In what is said to be the first study of its kind, childhood obesity and high blood sugar were shown to be the greatest risk factors in the frequency of early death.
The study is published in Thursday’s edition of the “New England Journal of Medicine”.
