About Konflikt

Published torsdag 11 februari 2010 kl 16.34

Konflikt (Conflict) is Swedish Radio's in-depth foreign affairs programme, which crosses the borders between culture and politics, and links international events to Swedish everyday life.

Konflikt depicts major events through people's experiences.

For an hour each week Konflikt focuses on one current topic. We look at the confrontations that have replaced the Cold War, such as "the war against terror", and the struggle over oil. Konflikt also tries to illustrate other areas of tension around the world, such as those between the rich and the poor, patriarchs and feminists, old and new superpowers, secular and religious.

Konflikt fills the gaps left behind by other media coverage. We look for explanations and contexts in forgotten conflicts, that can also contain some of the greatest issues and challenges of our time.

Over the next 2 months a selected number of programmes will also be broadcast in English and Arabic, to bring quality journalism about our world's most pressing issues to a global audience, in association with Swedish Radio's English and Arabic departments at SR International.

The English version of Konflikt can be heard via P6(89.6FM) in Stockholm, and via Radio Sweden's broadcasts to the rest of the world, it is also available as a downloadable podcast on this site.

Our journalism is based on credibility and impartiality. Swedish Radio is independent and not affiliated to any political, religious, financial, public or private interests.
