What Would Wallander Do?
The Swedish postal authorities are apparently not fans of CSI. The Post Office has introduced new rules that make it harder for the police to investigate crimes.
Since the beginning of the year the post office has refused to deliver packages containing weapons or parts of weapons. Which means local police stations can no longer send weapons recovered at crime scenes or in connection with investigations to the National Laboratory of Forensic Science for analysis.
Carina Vangstad, a weapons expert at the National Police Board, says that for the time being they have to send the highest priority weapons to the crime lab in police patrol cars. Other weapons will have to wait for the time being.
The police request for a special agreement has been rejected by the postal authorities. The police are now looking for a rival freight company more interested in their business.
