Opposition Lead Reduced
With 7 months remaining to the Swedish elections, a new poll shows the opposition still ahead of the government, but the gap closing.
The Sifo survey gives the Social Democrats, Left, and Green parties together 49.3 percent of the vote, with the governing conservative Moderate, Liberal, Christian Democrat, and Center parties at 43.5 percent. But the poll also shows the Christian Democrats at 3.9 percent, just below the 4 percent threshold to get seats in parliament.
The survey also indicates the anti-immigrant far right Sweden Democrat party has lost almost one-third of its support in the past month, slipping to 3.4 percent support and outside the parliamentary threshold.
