New Survey: Medicine from Fake Pharmacies Stocking Swedish Shelves
Despite the risks involved, one-seventh of all Swedes have bought prescription medicine from illegal sources. When surveyed by pharmaceutical company Pfizer last autumn, most said that they buy drugs from unauthorized "pharmacies" because it's quicker and cheaper than most legal options.
News bureau TT writes that one-fifth of those surveyed don't believe that there are any risks involved with taking prescription medicine without a doctor's referral. In addition, one-third did not know that erectile dysfunction medicines like Viagra and Cialis require a prescription, and one-fifth were unaware that the flu medicine Tamiflu could also only be dispensed with a medical prescription.
