Elderly Worried About Emergency Alarms

Published torsdag 11 mars 2010 kl 11.02

News reports claim both local government authorities and many of the elderly in rural areas who rely on telephone-based emergency aid systems are worried about the planned closing of the telephone net - to be replaced by a mobile system.

The critics say no real sure-fire system has been found to replace the old telephone network when it is to be phased out in several regions in the next few months.

Some of the old-timers say the emergency aid signal is their only way to contact medical authorities - and that they would have a hard time staying at home without those blinking red lights which some wear in a chain around their neck for easy access.
