Rabies Discovered in Sweden

Published torsdag 11 mars 2010 kl 17.00

Swedish Radio News reports that rabies has appeared in Sweden for the first time.

The deadly disease has been discovered in bats in the southern province of Skåne. The animals were captured last year, and the test results have just been released.

For many years there were strict quarantines on dogs brought into Sweden, because of the risk of rabies entering the country.
