Swedish Medal Win Tarnished by Doping

Published söndag 21 mars 2010 kl 10.33

A member of Sweden's Bronze medal winning wheelchair curling team has been banned for two years after failing a doping test at the Winter Paralympics which ended on Sunday.

Glenn Ikonen said that he was disappointed that his doctor gave him medication which was on the banned list.

Ikonen was taking a drug to control high blood pressure but a random drug test before Sweden's bronze medal match with the USA detected a beta blocker in his body.

Sweden beat the USA 7-5 to take bronze. Team Sweden finished the Paralympic games with two bronze medals.
