Bus and Ferry Strike Averted
The bus and ferry strike looming on the horizon has been called off, news agency TT reports. The union has agreed to a new contract with several employers in the transport sector, making the strike set for Monday unnecessary.
The contract will give the union's 12,000 members a raise in wages of 3.5 percent between May 1, 2010, and April 30, 2012, the union wrote in a press release.
The strike would have hit against bus companies Busslink and Nobina (formerly Swebus), and ferry operators Tallink Silja, Viking Line, and Stena Line.
