Charter Travel Rebounds

Published lördag 12 juni 2010 kl 17.06

Package travel has picked up this summer in Sweden, after last year’s drop.

According to Swedish charter travel agencies, the most popular destinations right now are inexpensive countries outside the euro zone. Turkey is attracting the most travellers, followed by Bulgaria and Croatia. Cyprus is also a popular destination.

Fritidsresor reports a 32 percent increase in summer travel compared to last year, while at competitors Apollo the rise is 21 percent.

Apollo’s Pernilla Ankler the TT news bureau that with the poor economy last year, people didn’t know how much they could spend on travel. Last year, she says, travellers also discovered that trips to euro zones countries had become more expensive.

Another reason for the increase is this spring and summer’s unstable weather.
