No Rush from Young Home Buyers
A two-year-old Swedish center-right government plan to help young people get loans to buy their first houses or apartments has resulted in only one such purchase.
The program calls for a government guarantee on the loan to help convince the bank to take a chance on the young customer.
Some critics blame the sluggish economy and the relatively high number of unemployed among young people here. Others insist that not enough information about the program has been spread - so that many would-be loan takers don't know about the guarantees.
